*Federal Poly Damaturu Management Holds Valedictory Session for Two Retiring Members*

The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu held a valedictory session on Thursday to honour two retiring senior staff members who have reached the mandatory retirement age of 65.

The retirees are:
1.  Engr. Bukar Hassan, Director of Procurement and Physical Planning.
2.  Abubakar Lamba, Head of Medical Services.

Presided over by the Rector, Dr. Ibrahim Bello Bashir, at the Council Chamber of the institution, the session featured tributes to both departing officers.

 Dr. Bashir commended the retirees for their dedicated service and significant contributions to the Polytechnic's development. 

He specifically praised Engr. Bukar Hassan, the outgoing Director of Physical Planning, describing him as a professional who distinguished himself during his tenure and remained highly focused on the institution's progress as he noticed in his short stay in the Polytechnic.

Dr. Bashir also lauded Abubakar Lamba for his persistent efforts in upgrading the Polytechnic clinic, noting Lamba's frequent requests to elevate it to a first-class primary healthcare facility.

Dr. Bashir congratulated both retirees on their successful careers and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Other speakers echoed the Rector's sentiments. Dr. Reuben Omotayo Akinsola, Director of Affiliation, External Collaboration and Linkages, praised the retirees for their exemplary leadership and positive impact on the institution.

The incoming Director of Procurement, Abdullahi A. Musa, paid tribute to Engr. Bukar Hassan, whom he described as a mentor. "He was my 'big boss' in mentoring," Musa stated, "exposing me to procurement work and emphasizing the importance of maintaining standards when procuring equipment. I greatly benefited from his guidance."

Similarly, the incoming Head of Medical Services, Comrade Muhammad Umar Babi, honoured his predecessor, Abubakar Lamba. Babi described Lamba as "a man of patience and trust," adding, "I learned a great deal from him in the medical and health field."

The valedictory session concluded with prayers and heartfelt good wishes for the retirees' future.
